Small Company Innovation Scheme
(SCIS)
Scottish Enterprise provides the Small Company Innovation
Support (SCIS). SCIS is a valuable source of development
funding, which could help small companies turn their ideas
into commercial successes.
SCIS provides vital financial support for projects that
lead to the development and introduction of new products
and processes. A single company R&D scheme, SCIS does
not offer grants for joint venture/collaborative projects.
Under the scheme, support is available to companies who
can demonstrate that the proposed development:
-
Involves the development of a product or process that
is new to the company and innovative;
-
Involves technical risk to be addressed by the applicant
company the resolution of which will influence the outcome;
-
Must be compatible with the strategic direction of the
applicant's business;
-
The applicant owns, or has the rights to exploit, the
required intellectual property;
-
Viable commercial prospects for the end product or process;
-
Realistic and effective routes to market have been identified;
-
The necessary management and technical expertise and
resources are available;
-
Both the project and the business are financially viable.
All applications undergo detailed assessments on technical,
financial, and commercial grounds.
To find out if your company qualifies for assistance under
SCIS, contact your Local Enterprise Company, speak to an
ICASS adviser, or go to the SE
website.
